“Epilepsy can never be who you are. It is only a part of your medical history. Epilepsy is not your identity.”

Samman Association along with Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital conducted a support group on July 13, 2024 from 3-5.30 pm where over 80 people were in attendance to discuss ‘Living Well with Epilepsy.’

Experts Dr Jayanti Mani, Dr Urvashi Shah, Dr. Shivani Rajeshree, Dr Priyanka and Dr Sayli Bidkar spoke on various aspects of brain health, epilepsy and seizure control. The idea of epilepsy as your identity was dismmissed by all the expert panelists.

Samman spoke on the importance of a support group.

The stars of the show were epilepsy warriors, Akanksha, Hari and Ruchi, shared their experiences. Akanksha illuminated the audience on how to overcome stigma and confidently disclose your epilepsy to others. Hari spoke about overcoming anger and behavioral issues with therapy. Ruchi shared how her experience with Samman has nourished her.
