Congratulations to Drs. Jayanti Mani and Pradnya Gadgil for hosting an excellent support group meeting at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, Andheri.  Dr. Mani welcomed the gathering and spoke of its purpose and agenda.  She then invited Psychiatrist Dr. Shaunak Ajinkya to talk on Psychiatric Disorders in Epilepsy.  He began by telling us that psychiatric disorders could be illness related, medication related or stigma related.  The talk was interesting and many people in the audience could identify with what was being spoken.  Pediatric Neurologist Dr. Pradnya Gadgil then spoke about problems children with epilepsy face in school, as well as the problems faced by their parents. Neurologist Dr. Jayanti Mani then told us that in the clinic the doctors have very little time to delve into the psycho-social problems faced by people with epilepsy and asked the audience to share about problems faced at work or problems faced getting employment.  The spontaneous participation from many in the audience and the desire to share their experiences is what made this well attended support group meeting special.
