January 2025’s support group at Jaslok Hospital was a fantastic start to 2025.

We had started our session on the ways of leading a healthy life (with epilepsy) by having:
1) Healthy and Balanced Diet with more focus on staple foods and water. Discouraging the practice of sweets and soft drinks.
2) A comparison of Glucose Based and Keto Based Diet.
3) Adv of following Intermittent Fasting (old ways of eating and sleeping)
4) Getting a healthy and hearty exercise with cardio and strength training.
5) How a healthy sleep hygiene can discard waste and recycling of the body. Ideal sleep time 10pm to 6am with 8 hours of healthy sleep. It’s the quality of sleep over quantity.
6) 5 pillars of healthy lifestyle being, managing stress, sleep, food, exercise and pick up a new hobby.

A fact that everyone should be aware of that we stop growing up till ages 25-30. And we should try to incorporate healthy lifestyle as early as possible to ensure we age well. Well, as we age we should me mindful of old folks. We better try to understand our parents and notice them or rather engage with them more often.

A very significant point made was on self diagnosis and how we can factor ourselves into putting in a better place by knowing our triggers and solutions. These can be a missed medicine or not getting enough sleep or anything specific to an individual.

Besides no one is alone and can reach out to anyone who wants to talk, understand and seek help. We have support groups, individual counseling and importantly a group of friends and extended family who understand each other AKA Samman.

It was another amazing session where we learnt and got insights on law, education and experiences of inspiring people.
