Healthcare should reach people where they are, not the other way around. For people living in rural and tribal regions, accessing specialised medical care can mean additional travel, time and costs. When it comes to epilepsy, timely diagnosis, appropriate treatment and continued support can make a significant difference to a person’s quality of life. Making this care accessible, regardless of where someone lives or their financial circumstances, has been central to Samman’s work.
Over the past decade, Samman has conducted rural epilepsy camps across several regions, including Dahanu and Pen in Maharashtra, and Dharampur in Gujarat. These camps bring essential epilepsy care closer to communities, helping people access medical services that might otherwise be difficult to reach.
On 11 October 2026, we took another step in this journey with our first-ever epilepsy camp in Jawhar, Maharashtra, where 70 patients were seen during the camp.

Jawhar is a predominantly tribal region in rural Maharashtra, making access to specialised healthcare particularly important. By extending our work to Jawhar, we hope to reach more people living with epilepsy, support timely diagnosis, and help connect patients with the treatment and care they need.
Comprehensive epilepsy care, completely free of cost
At Samman, we believe that financial constraints should not stand in the way of accessing appropriate epilepsy care. Our camps provide comprehensive services free of cost, covering every stage of care, from diagnosis and medical consultation to counselling, treatment, medication, physiotherapy and rehabilitation support.
Beyond providing immediate medical assistance, these camps also help connect patients and families with the guidance and ongoing support they need to manage epilepsy.
Taking the next step, together.
Our first camp in Jawhar marks an important step in extending our reach to more underserved communities. We are deeply grateful to the doctors, volunteers and team members whose time and efforts made this camp possible.
As we continue our work across rural Maharashtra and beyond, our aim remains the same: to make epilepsy care more accessible, ensure that people receive appropriate treatment, and help individuals and families navigate life with epilepsy with greater support and confidence.
One more community reached. Many more to go.
