Living with epilepsy impacts individuals and families across psychological, social, cognitive, educational, and emotional dimensions. Epilepsy care extends far beyond prescriptions and medical diagnoses. To bridge this gap, Samman Association collaborated with Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital & Medical Research Institute on August 22 and 23, 2026, to host an intensive two-day professional training workshop titled Counselling Strategies in Epilepsy.

Curated by Dr. Urvashi Shah, the workshop brought together over 60 delegates—ranging from clinical psychologists, neuropsychologists, and neurologists to trainee therapists and school counselors—to build professional capacity and improve patient outcomes.

The Two-Day Learning Journey

  • Day 01: Fundamentals of Epilepsy Focused on building a strong clinical foundation. Key sessions covered medical and psychosocial dimensions, psychiatric concerns, and epilepsy surgery counseling.

    • Panel Discussion: Interactive panel featuring Dr. Jayanti Mani, Dr. Pradnya Gadgil, and Dr. Neena Sawant.
  • Day 02: Counselling Issues & Strategies Shifted the focus toward understanding the person behind the diagnosis. Participants engaged in practical case studies, peer discussions, and evidence-based therapeutic strategies for patient and family counseling.
